We’re pleased to bring you the latest edition of our bi-annual guide to Third Party Costs (TPCs). Also called non-energy or non-commodity costs, TPCs account for around 60% of commercial energy bills.

Lockdowns throughout much of 2020 and well into 2021 caused reduced energy demand, and the impacts of Covid-19 continue to be felt across to the market.

With increasing wholesale costs heading into autumn, there’s a continued risk of suppliers exiting the market, with expected impacts for the Renewable Obligation (RO).

Our guide details these changes and more that we expect to see over the coming charging years across the following non-commodity costs:

  • Transmission Network Use of System (TNUoS)
  • Balancing Services Use of System (BSUoS)
  • Distribution Use of System (DUoS)
  • Renewable Obligation (RO)
  • Capacity Market (CM)
  • Contracts for Difference (CfD) and Feed-in Tariff (FiT) mechanisms
